What should you do if you are called to serve at a polling station and already have a flight booked? Broadly speaking, these are your options: you can submit an appeal to your local Electoral Board (Junta Electoral de Zona) to request an exemption from serving at the polling station. If your request is not accepted, Vueling offers alternatives to help you manage your flight.
How can I submit an appeal to the Electoral Board if I already have a trip booked?
Having booked a trip before receiving your polling station appointment does not automatically exempt you from serving at the polling station.
You can submit an appeal to the relevant local Electoral Board (Junta Electoral de Zona or JEZ) and explain that you booked your trip before you were notified of your appointment to the polling station. We recommend providing flight and accommodation bookings or other documents showing when the trip was booked and the financial loss you would incur if you had to cancel it.
Within a maximum of 7 days of receiving your appointment notice, you will need to contact the relevant JEZ and request an appointment to submit documentation showing that you have a trip that cannot be postponed.
What happens to my flight if I have to serve at the polling station?
If you are required to fulfil your duties as a polling station member and are therefore unable to travel, you can request a refund of the ticket price in the form of Flight Credit on justified grounds from Vueling.
The Flight Credit can be used to fly to any Vueling destination within 18 months of its approval. It is also not issued in a specific passenger's name, so you can use it for yourself or someone else.

What if I have already started my trip?
If you receive your appointment notice after you have already started your trip and need to return to serve at the polling station, contact us as soon as possible.
We can arrange a change to your return flight at no additional cost. Alternatively, you can request the corresponding refund in the form of Flight Credit and choose a new flight yourself.
