If you're a resident of the Balearic Islands, Canary Islands or Ceuta, you can get a 75% discount on the base price of your ticket and your heaviest bag.
Which flights does the resident discount apply to?
It applies to domestic flights from mainland Spain to the Balearics and the Canaries, and vice versa, and to inter-island flights.
In the case of Ceuta, it applies to domestic flights to or from the airports of Seville, Malaga or Jerez. In the case of Melilla, Vueling does not currently operate any flights to that airport.
With connecting flights, the discount only applies if the destination is within Spain. If the connecting flight is in mainland Spain but the destination is international, the discount does not apply.
How to request it
1. Tick resident status in the box you will find during the booking process. If any of the passengers are not residents, they will need to make their booking separately.
2. After selecting your flight with the discount applied, you must provide your resident details on the passenger details screen. They will be validated with the Spanish Ministry of Public Works and Transport through the Automatic Residency Accreditation System (SARA for its Spanish acronym).
3. When you finish your booking, you will know your data validation status and you will no longer be able to request a refund of the discount. If your data is valid, it will not be necessary to present resident documentation at the airport. If the details are not verified online, you will need to prove your resident status at the airport check-in desk.
You can check the status of your application at any time in the Residents section of our website.
How it is calculated
The discount is applied to the following:
- The base price of the ticket, excluding taxes.
- One checked bag per passenger. If you check in more than one bag, the discount will apply to the heaviest one.
1. Once you have selected your flights, check the breakdown of the price per passenger for each flight. This price, without taxes, is the base fare.
2. Now, multiply the base fare by 0.75. That will give you your 75% resident discount.
And that's it! Now you know how to calculate your resident discount.
If you're a resident and large family
If you're a large family and you all live in the Balearic Islands, Canary Islands, Ceuta or Melilla, you can benefit from a reduced base price for flights within Spain and the heaviest suitcase per passenger: 80% for general resident large families (up to 3 children) and 85% for special resident large families (4 children or more).
